ATU is one of the largest multi-campus technological university on the island of Ireland Ireland, located in the west and northwest of Ireland that delivers a rich combination of academic and research excellence, quality of life and opportunity.
It places a strong emphasis on partnership with local industry and innovation to enhance students’ skills and employability. ATU Donegal has two contemporary campuses in Letterkenny and Killybegs, with awards available from Level 6 (Higher Certificate) right up to Level 10 (PhD). The vibrant campus atmosphere is enjoyed by a diverse population of around 4,000+ students from all over the island and from 30+ other countries. ATU Donegal currently has over 50 partner Higher Education Institutions internationally.
ATU Donegal has an ambitious and progressive ethos. The course curriculum has expanded to offer over 130 programmes across several disciplines including business, science, sport, design & creative media, law, engineering, culinary arts, tourism, science, nursing & health studies, childcare and computing. Industry engagement is of great importance with over 65% of undergraduate programmes offering work placement opportunities.
On a cross-border basis, ATU Donegal co-operates closely on courses and research with the Ulster University’s Magee College, in Derry. ATU Donegal also offers support for businesses through specialized short-term courses, research and networking. The Letterkenny campus is also home to CoLab, an innovation centre that provides flexible office space and outstanding facilities, for high-potential start-ups. CoLab is the community of entrepreneurs and a culture of collaboration. In 2020, the institute opened a new student research centre – the William C Campbell Research Suite. Research is a key priority for ATU Donegal and it has doubled its number of research students pursuing Masters by Research and PhD Degrees over the last three years.
130 programmes across four schools of Business, Tourism, Engineering and Science, our courses are as diverse as our students (who come from down the road as well as from over 31 countries), and range from one to four years; combining academic theory with practical skills development.

Programmes cover the business and practical elements of tourism, hospitality and professional cookery which equip graduates with the practical knowledge and skills to work in this exciting industry anywhere in the world. It also equips them with the entrepreneurial skills they may need to run their own tourism or hospitality business. In fact, top chefs who trained here have gone on to set up or run award-winning restaurants.
This campus is also the location of the ATU Donegal Wind Energy Training Centre.
