Donegal County Council is interested in exploring opportunities to join project consortiums, develop projects and apply for funding from both EU and national funding programmes across a range of themes to assist us in delivering the strategic objectives that are set out in our Donegal County Council Corporate Plan 2020 – 2024.

Donegal County Council is innovative in its approach to delivering projects by resourcing a dedicated team in the Strategic Funding Unit responsible for facilitating the development of projects, connecting partnership networks and applying for funding to deliver a wide range of projects.

Donegal County Council is an active member of EU and national networks including the CPMR (Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions), the AER (Assembly of European Regions), AEBR (Assembly of European Border Regions), ERNACT, Wildsea Europe and URBACT among others. Donegal County Council regularly and proactively engages with our National Contact Points.

TIDE is funded by the EU Atlantic Area Programme with a budget of €3.7 million. This project is focused on preserving maritime history and heritage using new digital technology.

SMARTRenew is a €1.6 million project to develop renewable energy solutions in public buildings funded by the Northern Periphery and Arctic Programme.

ASCENT was successful in securing €1.6 million under the EU Northern Periphery and Arctic Programme for a project to ensure the protection and management of upland sites and natural areas.

SinCE-AFC is a collaboration between nine partners in 7 EU countries and is focused on the investigation of efficient practices to support SMEs enter the Circular Economy (CE).

EMERGREEN is funded by the NPA and is led by ERNACT with six partners and seeks to overcome the common territorial challenge of how to deliver quality and sustainable public services in remote areas.

The Riverine project is a unique project creating a shared community park and activity space between Lifford and Strabane granted by SEUPB under PEACE IV.
