The Buncrana Enterprise Centre Project

Type of Opportunity:

Commercial

Address:

St. Orans Road, Buncrana

Property Description:

The Buncrana Enterprise Building is a redevelopment of the former Garda Barracks on St. Oran’s Road in Buncrana. The historic early‑1900s building is being transformed into a modern enterprise centre, featuring a high‑quality contemporary rear extension designed to provide sustainable office accommodation. The project forms part of Donegal County Council’s Repowering Buncrana regeneration initiative, aiming to revitalise the streetscape, remove a long‑term vacant structure, and bring new economic activity into the town centre.

Car parking:  The development provides for limited onsite car parking due to the significant availability of parking nearby. Parking will include accessible parking spaces, EV charging point and bicycle parking

Accessibility: This development will provide significant accessibility improvements to make the site more inclusive and user‑friendly including:

  • Universal access will be provided at the main entrance, with the existing sloped and stepped forecourt being reconfigured specifically to improve accessibility.
  • A new external stairway will be added along with a platform lift, ensuring that individuals with mobility impairments can easily access the building.
  • The front boundary wall will be partially removed to allow for a wider vehicular entrance, which enhances access for service vehicles, users with disabilities, and those requiring closer drop‑off proximity.
  • Additional external features include accessible parking spaces, bicycle parking, and an electric vehicle charging point, all designed to support inclusive access.
