ATU Recognised Among the Top 5% of Universities Worldwide

Atlantic Technological University (ATU) has been recognised among the top five per cent of higher education institutions globally following its inclusion in the prestigious Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2027.

Established in 2022, ATU has achieved this significant international recognition in just over four years and becomes only the second Technological University in Ireland to feature in the global rankings.

The ranking reflects ATU's performance across teaching, research, industry engagement and international outlook, while also highlighting the University's growing reputation for academic and research excellence.

With campuses in Letterkenny and Killybegs, ATU Donegal plays a vital role in supporting education, skills development, innovation and economic growth across the county. As one of the largest multi-campus technological universities on the island of Ireland, ATU combines academic and research excellence with opportunity, strong industry partnerships and a commitment to enhancing student skills and employability.

ATU's strong regional focus aligns closely with Donegal's ambition to nurture and advance learning opportunities, providing students with access to high-quality education while developing the skills needed by employers and industry. Donegal's education ecosystem continues to support a skilled, progressive and ambitious population, helping position the county as an attractive destination to live, learn and build a career.

Research excellence was a key factor in ATU's inclusion in the rankings, reflecting significant growth in research activity across its campuses, including Donegal. The achievement further strengthens the University's international profile and creates opportunities to expand global partnerships, research collaborations and student engagement.

This recognition represents an important milestone for ATU, its staff, students and graduates, and is a positive endorsement of the University's contribution to regional development across Donegal, the north-west and beyond.
