Donegal: Your Career. Your Home. Your Future. Join Us at the London Irish Centre

Donegal is consistently recognised as one of the best places to live in Ireland, offering stunning natural beauty, a strong sense of community, more affordable housing and a quality of life that is difficult to match elsewhere in the country. Increasingly, people living and working abroad are recognising the benefits of returning home and building their future in Donegal.

On Monday, September 7th, Donegal County Council will host a Donegal Diaspora Showcase at the London Irish Centre in Camden Town, featuring a fireside chat with Donegal legends Packie Bonner and Michael Murphy, hosted by MC Sarah Mulkerrins. The event will bring together a range of leading Donegal employers and organisations to highlight career opportunities, showcase the county as a place to live and work, and provide practical information for those considering a move home. Attendees will have the chance to speak directly with representatives from participating organisations and learn more about the opportunities available across Donegal.

Garry Martin, Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Human Resources, Economic Development and Emergency Services highlighted the significance of the event:

"We are delighted to have such a strong representation of Donegal businesses and organisations joining us in London, including Source Civil, Mantis Cranes, McMenamin Engineering, O'Reilly's, PGIM Ireland and Donegal County Council. Together, they showcase the innovation, ambition and expertise that are helping to drive Donegal's continued economic growth. This event is about celebrating the strong connections between Donegal and our diaspora while highlighting the exciting opportunities that exist across the county. Whether people are considering a return home, looking for the next step in their career or simply wishing to reconnect with Donegal, we encourage them to come along and discover first-hand why Donegal is such an exceptional place to live, work, invest and build a future."

About Source Civil

Donegal Town based, Source Civil Engineering is one of Ireland's leading CSA Civil Engineering contractors, delivering complex, mission-critical infrastructure projects across Ireland and Europe. Founded by Enda Healy and Dearbhail Mulhern in 2007, Source Civil Engineering has built a reputation as a trusted partner in supporting high-value complex infrastructure projects across the Data Centre, Power & Energy, Grid, Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and water & wastewater sectors. Combining specialist knowledge with a solutions-driven approach, Source Civil Engineering is founded on technical excellence, collaborative partnerships, and an uncompromising commitment to safety, quality, and innovation.

Source Managing Director Enda Healy believes that their available roles could offer the ideal opportunity for experienced workers and their families to return home, without having to compromise on career ambitions.

“We are looking for talented, experienced construction professionals who want to join a progressive and ambitious company,” Healy said. “We have a range of professional opportunities currently available, including roles for civil engineers, project managers, safety advisors and foremen, to name just a few. Our work pipeline for the remainder of 2026 and into 2027, is very strong so there has never been a better time to consider joining the Source team.”

While many of the current opportunities are based on major infrastructure projects across Europe, Healy says there are also roles available in Donegal and elsewhere in Ireland as the company’s workload continues to grow.  Healy believes the combination of international career opportunities and the ability to base a family at home in Donegal offers a compelling alternative for those considering a move home.

“Donegal is an amazing place to live and raise a family,” commented Healy. “The cost of living is significantly more affordable in Donegal than major cities such as London, Dublin or Sydney.  There are excellent schools, smaller class sizes, top-class sporting facilities and much more affordable childcare.  We also have a vibrant local culture, strong fibre connectivity across the county and, perhaps most importantly, a tremendous sense of community. Anyone that is considering moving home to Donegal can now build an exciting career while their family enjoys everything that life in Donegal has to offer.”

For those currently working overseas, one of Source Civil Engineering’s key attractions is its two-week rotation policy, which allows employees to return home to Donegal for long weekends every second week, with flights and accommodation fully covered by the company.

Many members of the Source Civil team have already made the decision to return home, proving that it is possible to build an ambitious international career while keeping Donegal as your family home.

Operations Director Danny McDyre, a native of Inver, returned to Donegal from Australia in 2019 and has never looked back.

“When I first travelled to Australia, there weren’t many dynamic and innovative companies like Source Civil in Donegal,” said McDyre. “Today, we have a highly regarded, progressive civil engineering company right on our doorstep, delivering major infrastructure projects at home and across Europe and providing opportunities for ambitious people to build their careers while living in Donegal.”

Today, Source Civil employs people from across the county and plays an important role in the local economy. The company is also deeply rooted in the wider Donegal community as main sponsor of Four Masters GAA Club in Donegal Town, while also supporting a range of charities and community initiatives throughout the county.

Source Civil currently has opportunities for senior civil engineers, senior project managers, setting-out engineers, site engineers, project managers, safety advisors, quantity surveyors, machine operators, foremen and general operatives.

Source Civil is also extending an open invitation to anyone considering a return to Donegal, or exploring a new career opportunity, to meet with members of its team at the London Irish Centre on September 7th. While the ticketed Donegal Diaspora Showcase fireside chat featuring Packie Bonner and Michael Murphy will commence from 6:30pm onwards, Source Civil representatives will be available at the venue between 12 noon and 5pm to meet informally with those who would like to learn more about the company, discuss current career opportunities or explore the possibility of relocating home to Donegal.
