Disrupt By The Sea 2023

ALPHA Innovation EU is thrilled to announce that Scaleups pitching at the #DisruptByTheSea 2023 Shark Tank, on September 15th at Rathmullan House, will be competing to take home a share of an investment worth up to $100,000 in cash.

The Shark Tank event is designed to bridge the gap for enterprises that have validated demand from the market on this side of the Atlantic and are looking to establish relationships at C-level that can help them crack the US next.

J. Mark Baiada

J. Mark Baiada, was the first shark announced for Disrupt By The Sea 2023. Mark founded BAYADA Home Health Care in 1975 with the mission to help people have a safe home life. Almost 50 years later the business has grown to become a global leader in the US, Europe, Asia and New Zealand.

Hailing from New Jersey, USA, Mark and his wife Ann have strong ties to Kilmacrennan, County Donegal. As members of the DONEGAL ASSOCIATION OF PHILADELPHIA and the Irish American Business Chamber & Network (IABCN), the couple were recipients of the Tip O’Neill Award in 2022, in recognition of their achievements and for supporting the Irish Diaspora.

As chairman of BAYADA, Mark has overseen the company’s transition to a non-profit organisation in 2019, while also managing Kermit Investments LLC and can’t wait to see the scaleups pitching at Disrupt By TheSea 2023.

Mike Finucane

The next Shark for Disrupt By The Sea 2023 is Mike Finucane, General Manager of BAYADA Home Health Care (Ireland). Based in Limerick, Mike boasts over 15 years experience in engineering and manufacturing working with Dell Technologies

Mike moved into the healthcare space as General Manager of ShannonDoc in 2012, overseeing a period of intensive change and restructuring at the company before moving to BAYADA in 2019. 

As General Manager, Mike leads several teams to facilitate the care that BAYADA provides.

Joining shortly before the pandemic, Mark navigated the company through a rapidly changing environment, ensuring the highest quality of home health care was maintained.

John T. Fries

John T. Fries completes the lineup of Sharks at Disrupt By The Sea 2023. President of Managed Care Connections in Moorestown, New Jersey, and Managing Partner at Germantown Ventures, a Philadelphia-based venture capital firm, John is a first-generation Irish-American whose father was born and raised in Kilmacrenan, County Donegal.

John credits his heritage with teaching him the “life skills necessary to build a successful business career.” John has had a successful business career spanning 24 years in the Tech and Healthcare industry.

His focus in recent years has been at board-level roles and senior leadership positions with start-up firms.

Donegal County Council is delighted that John T. Fries will also be one of the 2023 Tip O'Neill Irish Diaspora awards recipients for his life-long commitment to the Diaspora and Ireland.
