From the Middle East to Gaoth Dobhair – Bridging the gap with global insurance technologies and local excellence

Having spent her childhood and early years growing up in the heart of the stunning Donegal Gaeltacht in Gweedore. A native Gaeilge speaker with a passion for people, processes, and technology in the Insurance Industry. In her spare time Helen enjoys walking on the beach, gym, golf, music and travel.

"It's been an exciting entrepreneurial journey these past few years, filled with invaluable lessons, personal and professional development. A bit of a rollercoaster is the easiest way to describe it."

In 2010, Helen made the decision to embark on the next exciting chapter in Doha, Qatar where she had the opportunity to work as a Kindergarten Teacher for diverse groups of children, teaching a wide range of subjects including language, math, Phonics and Art.

While in Qatar, Helen delved into the world of Tech and Insurance as a Systems analyst while working on a project delivering a custom-built insurance platform to a leading Qatari Insurance Company. Since then, Helen’s career has skyrocketed in this field and has brought her to where she is now, a leading figure in Insurance Technology.

"For more than ten years, we called the Middle East home, starting our journey in Doha, Qatar, and later moving to Dubai, UAE in 2014. We really enjoyed the lifestyle and had the opportunity to travel a good bit while out there. To top it off the endless sunshine was a bonus."

Having spent over 12 years successfully launching digital insurance solutions across the Middle East, Africa and Asian markets with global insurance brokers, Helen relocated back to her roots in Gaoth Dobhair in 2021 where she established her own company Teambase Ireland.

"We decided to return to our roots in Gaoth Dobhair, in the heart of the Donegal Gaeltacht and I am glad we did. Since moving home, I have had the opportunity to start my own business and have gotten a lot of local support both from people and establishments in my area, something I am very grateful for."

Founded in 2022, Teambase Ireland allowed Helen the opportunity to do what she did best without compromising on a work-life balance located at the modern co-working space Gteic @Gaoth Dobhair.

“Teambase supports, advises, and accelerates Insurance Brokers, MGA’s and Insurers to leverage digital technologies to become more efficient, profitable, customer centric and innovative.”

Last year Helen completed a Feasibility Study on 'Insurtech in Europe’ sponsored by Údarás na Gaeltachta and the Scale-X accelerator program supported by Local Enterprise Office Donegal

The core values and proposition of the company is to ultimately address real world challenges and opportunities within the insurance industry on a global level.

The company has gone from strength to strength since it was established under Helens experienced leadership with several significant achievements and accomplishments in that time. Some of the highlights include being selected to participate in the Global InsurTech Accelerator Program, pitch on stage at the InsurTech Global Summit in Israel, along with being nominated as InsurTech of the year by the Swiss InsurTech Hub based in Switzerland.
