A musician, poet, storyteller and dreamer, John’s music is deeply rooted in people, place and Irish tradition. His distinctive, almost sean-nós vocal style moves effortlessly between beautiful, melancholy poetry and roguish humour, creating live performances that charm, mesmerise and entertain audiences of every generation.
The two-time Meteor Award winner for Best Folk/Trad Act has released twelve albums, while his songs have been recorded by celebrated artists including Christy Moore, Sharon Shannon and Seán Keane. His ambitious 2024 concept album, Fíoruisce – The Legend of the Lough, was named Album of the Year at the RTÉ Folk Awards.
