My interest in Country style pottery started some 35 years ago while working at the Dales Pottery in Clapham North Yorkshire. My main duties were to dig 1 Tonne of clay a week on the local moors heading towards Bentham where we had mineral rights. The clay was then processed into a liquid to allow the filtering out of grit & contaminants after which it was dried back into a plastic state ready for throwing on the potters wheel. When I eventually left I had got the bug for taking one of mother natures natural resources & turning it into vessels for use in & around the home. I went on to buy my first wheel & kiln, Many a night was spent practicing and honing my skills into becoming a repetition potter meaning I can throw at high speed & large batches of pottery. After spending some 25 years in & around Yorkshire Potting, in 2015 I made the decision to move to Ballyshannon in Donegal where I set up my new pottery in The Leap Craft centre & since then moved to Main Street.
