In a lakeside setting in the shadow of Errigal, the RTÉ Concert Orchestra will be joined by a host of guest performers including The Murder Capital ( currently one of Ireland’s top rock bands, whose members include bassist Gabriel Pascal Blake from Letterkenny and Donegal Town’s Cathal Roper on guitar). The live show will also feature soul singer songwriter Aly Coulibaly and Dublin based, formerly of Kyiv, jazz and spoken word artist, Olesya Zdorovetska. And one more very special guest artist, yet to be announced.
Over the waves on beautiful Oileán Árainn Mhór (Arranmore Island) off the Donegal coast, leaders of the Irish folk revival Ye Vagabonds will perform on the new shorefront amphitheatre along with Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh and Nia Byrne from Gaoth Dobhair and LUXE Landscape Theatre from Burnfoot. The show will also feature a range of events happening around the country for Culture Night including –
- Ériu with Breandán de Gallaí. A commissioned dance performance filmed on Arranmore Island. Choreographed by dance scholar, former Riverdance lead and Gaoth Dobhair native, Breandán de Gallaí.
- Fidget Feet aerial performance at Robert Byrne Park in Limerick. ( Fidget Feet’s founder and Artistic Director is Chantal McCormick from Ballybofey)
- The Lighthouse Project - spoken word and music event at Hook Head in County Wexford.
- Bolus Head event on the Iveragh Peninsula in South Kerry.
Presented by RTÉ in association with the Arts Council, supported by Donegal County Council and Creative Ireland.
