Dark Daughter Productions, working with Oath Film Studio and Oireas, hope to capture the audience moods in Xmas CV19 times. Having been successful in obtaining tour funding from the Dept of Tourism Culture Arts Gaeltacht Sports Media under Donegal Local Live Performance Programme Support Scheme 2021 Phase 2 , administered by Donegal county Council’s Tourism Unit, it is possible for Dark Daughter Productions to bring their Donegal themed Xmas show to rural areas and create an archive video of Xmas in Covid times.

The Drumshee Xmas Show brings us back in time to a simpler time. Maura Logue director and performer of Drumshee Xmas Show talked of her vision for the funded tour. ‘We learned from audience’ feedback on other Drumshee themed shows, in Spring & Summer of 2020 & 2021, that our supporters enjoyed the informal interactive approach, Dark Daughter Productions brings with it.

The Drumshee series unlocks memories for audience members and many share their stories, post show. The performers engage and talk with the audience. As Maura puts it, ‘An informal setting is conducive to interactive sharing. We chose to go to small venues, be they parish halls, small hotels or community centres, where community may gather. Branded as the “PUT ON YOUR COAT, WRAP UP NOT DRESS UP tour, Dark Daughter chooses to bring theatre out to rural communities.

A Drumshee Xmas show will offer them a smile for the day. The Xmas Cheer of the show is extended, in the warm Xmas melodies, played by David Ison on guitar. David will flavour the Story and texture the mood with Xmas Songs. The Drumshee Xmas Tour wish also to capture the memory of Xmas 2021. Dark Daughter Productions wish to record the atmosphere of small gatherings, in west and south Donegal, an archive digital memory of Donegal Arts & Tourism, in a CV19 world.
